Sorah Az-Zalzalah ( The Earthquake )

Sorah Az-Zalzalah ( The Earthquake ) - Verses Number 8

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ( 1 )

When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion,

وَأَخْرَجَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا ( 2 )

And the earth throws up her burdens (from within),

وَقَالَ الْإِنسَانُ مَا لَهَا ( 3 )

And man cries (distressed): 'What is the matter with her?'-

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا ( 4 )

On that Day will she declare her tidings:

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا ( 5 )

For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration.

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ ( 6 )

On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).

فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ ( 7 )

Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!

وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ ( 8 )

And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.

Enjoining Good, Forbidding EvilIbn Taymiyyah said: "This (enjoining good and forbidding evil) is a duty that the entire Ummah is obliged to fulfil. It is what the Ulama know as an obligation of collective responsibility, if a group in society undertook to discharge it, the other members of this society are absolved from it.
